Building with discipline, on and off the mat
Dean Concepcion is the founder of The Study Concept and a student-athlete whose work is shaped by the same habits that support progress in sport: showing up consistently, reviewing what works, and improving the next attempt.
Dean began karate before the age of four. In 2026, he became the Karate Canada Cadet National Champion and represented Canada at the Pan American Karate Championships in Costa Rica. The achievement reflects years of focused training, but it is only one part of the picture.
Outside competition, Dean is building The Study Concept to help students keep course material, deadlines, notes, and review in one clear system. The project starts from a practical problem: schoolwork becomes harder when the information needed to learn is scattered across too many places.
His work also reaches beyond the screen. CityNews reported that Dean volunteers in his community and at his dojo, alongside developing the study tool for classmates. That combination of sport, service, and building for peers is the approach behind The Study Concept: make progress more visible, useful, and shared.
